I had never raced a mile in my life. So naturally, I signed up for the Leadville 100 MTB. Go big or go home, right? I had trained long, hard hours on the bike. I had done the work. I had a full stomach, and I was ready. Fast forward 10 hours: cramped, uncomfortable and questioning every life choice I’d ever made, I crossed the finish line and promptly headed for a trashcan where I purged the muesli that had been waging war on my stomach since the starting gun. I was fed up with the wrong fuel, so I followed my gut to something better.
I began chasing the unicorn: crisp, clean, convenient fuel that works with our bodies instead of against them. For months, I devoured the science behind sports nutrition and experimented with powders in my makeshift kitchen lab. Then, after months of testing on the trails and tweaking my formulas, Tailwind Nutrition was born.
