Eric is a two-time Escape From Alcatraz champion, a 70.3 Santa Cruz winner, and one half of triathlon duo, alongside his wife and training partner, Paula Findlay. His journey in multisport began at age 12 when a triathlon coach saw his potential and encouraged him to compete. The thrill of that first race ignited a lifelong passion, propelling him to the top of the sport with a reputation for grit, speed, and race-day mastery.

Beyond triathlon, Eric is a creative force, drawing inspiration from action sports cinematographers to capture the essence of endurance racing. His storytelling is fueled by the same drive that pushes him to excel in competition. But his greatest source of motivation comes from Paula—her resilience and ability to rise to big challenges inspire him both personally and professionally.

Whether he’s charging up a climb, filming epic training sessions, or plotting his next big race, Eric brings an unmatched energy to everything he does. With a deep love for the sport and a relentless pursuit of excellence, he continues to push boundaries in triathlon and beyond.

Q&A

What brought you to find your sport?

I grew up swimming, and when I was 12, a triathlon coach came to lead "dry-land" training twice a week for our swim team, and then encouraged us all to sign up for a sprint triathlon in the summer. I did, and the postive energy and encouragement I got from that first event kicked a lifetime passion for multipsort and the people in it.

Who or what inspires you?

I get inspired creatively by great surf, ski, skate, mountain bike cinematographers and photographers. I want to bring that same kind of energy to the endurance sports space through visual storytelling. My wife, Paula also inspires me with her ongoing ability to push through tough times and rise to big sporting occasions. She truly can "flip the switch" in a way that my creative, emotional brain never has been able to.

Is there a time Tailwind really saved you?

Almost weekly, when I forget to bring a post-training snack to the trail and I pull out a recovery mix packet from our secret stash in the van :) Any time hanger is avoided, it's a good day!

If you could help create any flavor of Tailwind what would it be?

I think a more sophisticated lemonade would be neat. Like, mint lemonade. I'd also like some sort of a pear flavor.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I can ride a unicycle. And I can spell very quickly.
